Yao Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a dual-core photonic crystal fiber refractive index sensor and studies its performance under different parameters using the full vector finite element method. The results show that the sensor has high sensitivity and wide detection range in the refractive index range of 1.36-1.44. It is suitable for applications in biomolecules and chemistry, and provides a new idea for expanding the detection range.

Supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fibers infiltrated with tetrachloroethylene

Hieu Van Le et al.

Summary: This study presents a photonic crystal fiber with a fused silica glass core infiltrated with tetrachloroethylene (C2Cl4) as a new source of supercontinuum (SC) spectrum. By optimizing the structural geometries of different C2Cl4-core fibers, all-normal, anomalous, and dual zero dispersion wavelength characteristics were achieved to support broadband SC generation. These fibers show potential as cost-effective alternatives to traditional glass core fibers for all-fiber SC sources.

Design of all-normal dispersion with Ge11.5As24Se64.5/Ge20Sb15Se65 chalcogenide PCF pumped at 1300 nm for supercontinuum generation

Alireza Cheshmberah et al.

Summary: The process of supercontinuum spectrum generation involves converting a high power laser beam in femtoseconds into a broad-spectrum beam of light through specific mediums. This paper utilizes photonic crystal fibers to control dispersion and loss, while incorporating chalcogenides to maintain the nonlinear performance of the fiber. The proposed structure successfully produces a supercontinuum range from 800 to 1900 nm, providing potential applications in wavelength division multiplexing.

Supercontinuum generation in near- and mid-infrared spectral region using highly nonlinear silicon-core photonic crystal fiber for sensing applications

Zahra Dashtban et al.

Summary: In this study, a silicon-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with MgF2 background material was designed to generate supercontinuum spectra in the near- and mid-infrared wavelength ranges. By optimizing the geometric dimensions using a particle swarm optimization algorithm, a spectrum with high flatness and near-zero dispersion profile at the desired wavelength can be achieved, showing potential for applications in highly sensitive optical sensors.
