Optimization of UVB photodiode based on ZnO nanorod arrays grown via the hydrothermal process

Hamid Reza Mazandarani et al.

Summary: In this study, n-Type ZnO nanorods were successfully grown on a p-type Si substrate using the hydrothermal technique, and ZnO-based UV photodiodes were fabricated. The structural properties of the ZnO nanorod arrays were found to be influenced by the solution volume in the hydrothermal process, with well-aligned arrays observed on all substrates. Increasing the growth solution volume resulted in higher responsivity of the ZnO-based photodiodes, and the optical properties of the samples were also affected by this volume change.

Crucial Role of Oxygen Vacancies in Scintillation and Optical Properties of Undoped and Al-Doped β-Ga2O3 Single Crystals

Ruifeng Tian et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of oxygen vacancy and gallium vacancy on the optical and scintillation properties of undoped beta-Ga2O3 crystal and 2.5 mol% Al doped gallium oxide. The results show that the absorption cutoff slightly blue shifts and the band gap increases after the introduction of Al element. The contribution of the decay time component increases significantly after Al doping, but the light yield of the beta-Ga2O3 crystal is reduced.

Structure and defects-related optical properties of highly (002)-oriented zinc oxide thin films

A. Anjum et al.

Summary: This study reports on the highly (002)-oriented ZnO thin films deposited on glass substrates at different substrate temperatures using pulsed laser deposition. The effects of substrate temperature on the structural, compositional, morphological, and optical properties of the thin films are investigated. The study reveals the influence of substrate temperature on the crystallinity, surface morphology, and deep-level emissions of the ZnO thin films.

Vacancy Defects in Ga2O3: First-Principles Calculations of Electronic Structure

Abay Usseinov et al.

Summary: The study used first-principles density functional theory and supercell approach to simulate oxygen and gallium vacancies in β-Ga2O3 crystals. The results showed that oxygen vacancy acts as a deep donor defect, while gallium vacancies serve as deep acceptors, making them unsuitable sources for p-type conductivity.

Study of ZnO/BST interface for thin-film transistor (TFT) applications

Kavindra Kandpal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the ZnO/BST interface for potential use of (Ba,Sr)TiO3 as a gate-dielectric in ZnO based TFTs. The BST shows a peak behavior in the C-V curve due to its paraelectric nature, and the ZnO/BST MIS-C structure exhibits counter-clockwise hysteresis and low leakage current density. The use of BST as a gate-dielectric in ZnO TFTs shows promise for fast switching and low off-state current.
