Residual stress distribution and elevated temperature fatigue behaviour of laser peened Ti-6Al-4V with a curved surface

K. Praveenkumar et al.

Summary: The influence of laser shock peening without coating (LPwC) on the induced compressive residual stress and the fatigue behavior of curved samples of Ti-6Al-4V was investigated. The study found that laser shock peening can increase fatigue life and retard crack propagation rate. The effect of grain refinement and misorientation angles on fatigue behavior was also considered.

Summary: In this study, laser peening without protective coating was performed on stainless steel to investigate the effects on residual stress distribution, work hardening, surface roughness, phase transformation, and wettability. The results showed that multiple peening passes led to higher compressive residual stress, deeper work hardening depth, smaller grain size, and a transformation from hydrophilic to hydrophobic behavior.

Effect of multiple laser peening on microstructural, fatigue and fretting-wear behaviour of austenitic stainless steel

K. Praveenkumar et al.

Summary: The present study investigates the effects of laser peening without coating on the fatigue and fretting wear behavior of AISI 304 alloy. Laser peening treatment increases the compressive residual stress, microhardness, and refines the grain size of the alloy, resulting in improved fatigue and fretting wear resistance.

Summary: In this study, a hierarchically structured PRGO-based planar supercapacitor was reported by combining two-beam-laser-interference with the masking technique. The planar supercapacitor showed improved surface area, electric double-layer capacitors formation, and rapid ion diffusion paths due to the hierarchical structures. The hierarchically structured PRGO-based planar supercapacitor achieved an areal capacitance of 3.97 mFcm(-2) at 10mVs(-1), offering a new route for manufacturing high-performance integrated energy storage devices.
