A new strategy for fabrication of unique heterostructured titanium laminates and visually tracking their synchronous evolution of strain partitions versus microstructure

Hao Ding et al.

Summary: This study reports a new strategy for preparing heterostructured pure titanium laminates with a good combination of strength and ductility. The deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of the laminates were visualized using advanced microscopy techniques. The hetero-deformation induced stress strengthening and hardening were found to be the key factors contributing to the superior properties of the heterostructured material.

Effect of warm-rolling on the strength and ductility of multilayered composite steel

Jingyu Li et al.

Summary: This study successfully improved the strength and ductility of composite steel by introducing warm-rolling deformation in the subsequent process. It was found that warm-rolling not only hardened each layer effectively, but also improved the ductility of the austenite layer, resulting in simultaneous improvements in strength and ductility for composite samples.

Study of forming limit curves and mechanical properties of three-layered brass (CuZn10)/low carbon steel (St14) /brass (CuZn10) composite considering the effect of annealing temperature

Mohammad Delshad Gholami et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of annealing temperature on the mechanical properties and formability of brass/low carbon steel/brass composite sheets fabricated by the cold roll bonding process. The results show that the cold roll bonding process significantly increases the tensile strength and hardness of the composite, while decreasing the elongation. However, annealing treatment can moderate these changes and improve the elongation. Microstructural analysis reveals that annealing at 600 degrees C leads to full crystallization in the steel layer and the formation of deep and equiaxial dimples on the fracture surface, indicating improved ductility. Additionally, the forming limit diagram demonstrates that annealing heat treatment enhances the formability of the composite.
