The March 2017 earthquake sequence along the E-W-trending Mcid Aicha-Debbagh Fault, northeast Algeria

Hichem Bendjama et al.

Summary: A series of 143 small earthquakes near the MAD Fault in Northeast Algeria occurred between March 4 and 16, 2017, providing important new information on seismic activity in different regions along the fault. The seismic activities in Sidi Dris, El Kantour, and Hammam Debbagh regions show distinct characteristics, reflecting different tectonic features. This study reveals a strike-slip tectonic regime and provides insights into the stress tensor orientations in the region.

The 13 July 2019 Mw 5.0 Jijel Earthquake, northern Algeria: An indicator of active deformation along the eastern Algerian margin

Abdelkarim Yelles-Chaouche et al.

Summary: On July 13, 2019, a moderate earthquake occurred in the Jijel region of Algeria, with a depth of 10 km and no reports of property damage or injuries. The event is the second major event along the Algerian margin since the Pliocene Epoch, characterized by an E-W thrust fault rupture.

Prediction of the earthquake magnitude by time series methods along the East Anatolian Fault, Turkey

Hatice Oncel Cekim et al.

Summary: In this study, ARIMA and SSA models were used to predict the magnitude of earthquakes in the East Anatolian Fault of Turkey. The results indicate that the SSA model outperforms the ARIMA model in accuracy, forecasting the highest magnitude earthquake in the range of 4.0-5.9 in 2021.

Recent Seismic Activity in the Bejaia-Babors Region (Northeastern Algeria): The Case of the 2012-2013 Bejaia Earthquake Sequences

Oualid Boulahia et al.

Summary: From November 2012 to May 2013, the coastal region of Bejaia in northeastern Algeria experienced three distinct seismic sequences. These sequences revealed the presence of a newly discovered Babors Transverse Fault, segmented into four segments, acting as a transfer zone between offshore thrust faulting and the Ghardimaou-North Constantine strike-slip fault.
