Effect of Explosive Stress Waves on the Crack Propagation in the Defective Medium Using Strain Gauge Method

Qing Li et al.

Summary: This study proposed a method combining strain gauge and dynamic caustic method for investigating the crack propagation behavior of defective cracks under explosive stress waves. The results showed that the strain gauge method can accurately characterize the mechanical behavior of the cracks and is not limited by defects.

Expansion of Blast Vibration Attenuation Equations for Deeply Buried Small Clearance Tunnels Based on Dimensional Analysis

Jian-Jun Shi et al.

Summary: The conventional empirical Sadowski formula has low prediction accuracy for the vibration velocity in the near zone of blast sources, making it challenging to accurately evaluate the damage of building structures. This study investigated the blast vibration attenuation law in deeply buried small clearance tunnels using dimensional analysis and established an expanded Sadowski formula considering the resistance line and free face. The regression analysis and fitting results using actual blast vibration data showed that the expanded formula had higher correlation coefficients compared to the conventional attenuation formula, indicating its better prediction accuracy for blast vibration attenuation.

Vibration Energy Comparison Helps Identify Formation Time of New Free Surface in Urban Tunnel Blasting

Haojun Wu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to identify the formation time of a new free surface through a vibration energy comparison, aiming to improve the blast design. The experimental results showed that it takes 64.5 ms for cut blasting to form a new free surface.

Research on the Influence of the Number of Tunnel Blasting Free faces on Ground Vibration Based on ANSYS/LSDYNA

Xinyu Ji et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of different free face numbers on ground vibration velocity during tunnel blasting. Numerical simulations were conducted using the ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element program for single, two, and three free face conditions. The results reveal that as the number of free faces increases, the vibration velocity decreases significantly, showing a non-linear decreasing trend.

Theoretical and numerical investigation of deep-hole cut blasting based on cavity cutting and fragment throwing

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: Cut blasting is a key process in underground rock engineering, and traditional methods are not suitable for deep-hole blasting. This paper introduces an advanced concept, CCFT, which involves two blasting processes and aims to improve efficiency by approximately 20%. By establishing mechanical and numerical models, the study provides insights into the advantages of CCFT and offers optimization suggestions for parameters in deep-hole blasting projects.
