Tree's detection & health's assessment from ultra-high resolution UAV imagery and deep learning

Ionut Sandric et al.

Summary: The study proposed a method for detecting individual orchard trees and assessing their health status using consumer-based UAVs and deep learning techniques. By utilizing vegetation indices and computing statistical metrics, the approach demonstrated outstanding ability to map and assess the health of four out of five tree species (plum, walnut, apricot, almond), with satisfactory results for the fifth species (olive trees). This highlights the promising potential of the proposed method for mapping individual tree properties and health conditions in a cost-effective manner.

ByteTrack: Multi-object Tracking by Associating Every Detection Box

Yifu Zhang et al.

Summary: This method improves the performance of multi-object tracking by associating almost every detection box, effectively solving the problem of true object missing and fragmented trajectories caused by low score detection boxes being discarded. Applied to multiple trackers, this method consistently achieves improvement on IDF1 score.

A deep learning approach to identify unhealthy advertisements in street view images

Gregory Palmer et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the distribution of unhealthy advertisements on the streets exhibits social inequalities, with food advertisements more prevalent in deprived areas and areas frequented by students. Utilizing a deep learning workflow to automatically extract and classify unhealthy advertisements helps identify areas in need of stricter advertisement restriction policies.
