All-solution-processed BiVO4/SnO2 nanorods-axial-heterostructure with improved charge collection properties for solar water-splitting

Yoo Jae Jeong et al.

Summary: A nanorods-axial-heterostructure (NAH) consisting of BiVO4 nanorods and Sb-doped SnO2 nanorods was synthesized using a facile solution-based method. The NAH exhibited excellent charge collection and achieved higher photocurrent density, Faradaic efficiency, and long-term stability compared to pristine BiVO4 film, indicating the superiority of axial heterostructures as a design platform for efficient photoelectrodes.

Synthesis of 1D SnO2 nanorods / 2D NiO porous nanosheets p-n heterostructures for enhanced ethanol gas sensing performance

Xiaohu Wang et al.

Summary: The microstructure and composition of materials have significant impacts on the gas sensing performance of sensors. In this study, a well-constructed heterostructure of 1D SnO2 nanorods and 2D NiO porous nanosheets was successfully prepared for the detection of ethanol gas. The heterostructure exhibited increased number of active sites and controlled electron transfer, resulting in high response and fast response-recovery speed.
