Bamboo flattening technology enables efficient and value-added utilization of bamboo in the manufacture of furniture and engineered composites

Tiancheng Yuan et al.

Summary: Bamboo flattening is an efficient technology for the value-added utilization of bamboo, and it can effectively flatten bamboo into crack-free board. A study comparing three types of flattening technologies found that the process can enhance the cell wall properties of bamboo. Non-notched-flattened bamboo board exhibited better cell wall mechanical properties compared to untreated bamboo samples.

Nano-Fe3O4/bamboo bundles/phenolic resin oriented recombination ternary composite with enhanced multiple functions

Zhichao Lou et al.

Summary: This research successfully fabricated nano-Fe3O4/bamboo bundles/phenolic resin oriented recombination ternary composite boards, named T1, T2, and T3, with enhanced hydrophobicity and physico-mechanical properties. Among them, T2 showed the best compressive properties, dimensional stability, and mildew resistance due to the role of nano-Fe3O4 in enhancing the interactions between bamboo bundles and phenolic resin.

Density Profile Analysis of Laminated Beech Veneer Lumber (BauBuche)

Nick Engehausen et al.

Summary: During the initial moistening, an irreversible swelling was detected in laminated beech veneer lumber. The wood substance was hypothesised to be compressed during hot pressing, leading to higher density at the adhesive joints. The density in the middle of the veneers corresponds to that of solid beech wood.
