Graphene oxide membranes with stable porous structure for ultrafast water transport

Wen-Hai Zhang et al.

Summary: The study presents a highly stable and ultrapermeable zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8)-nanocrystal-hybridized graphene oxide membrane prepared using ice templating and in situ crystallization of ZIF-8. The selective growth of ZIF-8 in microporous defects enhances water permeability and mechanical integrity, leading to a 30-fold increase in permeability compared to graphene oxide membranes (GOms). The technique also improves permselectivity and offers potential for developing next-generation nanofiltration membranes.

Photoinduced Enhancement of Uranium Extraction from Seawater by MOF/Black Phosphorus Quantum Dots Heterojunction Anchored on Cellulose Nanofiber Aerogel

Mengwei Chen et al.

Summary: The BP@CNF-MOF high-efficiency uranium adsorbents are fabricated by anchoring UiO-66-NH2/black phosphorus quantum dots heterojunctions on carboxyl cellulose nanofiber aerogel. The adsorbents demonstrate good mechanical flexibility and enhanced adsorption efficiency under light irradiation due to the excellent heterogeneous photocatalytic activity of MOF/BPQDs. The strategy could potentially be applied to enhance adsorption efficiency of other superior MOF crystals as well.

Assembly of multidimensional MXene-carbon nanotube ultrathin membranes with an enhanced anti-swelling property for water purification

Yuqing Sun et al.

Summary: The multidimensional MXene-carbon nanotube (CNT) ultrathin membranes were successfully assembled by loading a MXene intercalated with CNTs onto a tubular ceramic membrane, which considerably improved the permeability and rejection performance of the membranes. The membranes exhibited a distinct suppressed swelling property via a facile thermal crosslinking process and showed promising anti-swelling property and stability in long-term operation studies. This assembly and thermal crosslinking strategy represents a new avenue for developing high-performance membranes for water purification based on MXene and other 2D materials.

A Lamellar MXene (Ti3C2Tx)/PSS Composite Membrane for Fast and Selective Lithium-Ion Separation

Zong Lu et al.

Summary: The study involves the creation of a 2D laminar membrane with Li+ selective transport channels by stacking MXene nanosheets with poly(sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (PSS) containing active sulfonate sites. This membrane shows excellent Li+ selectivity in ionic mixture solutions and high Li+ permeation rate. The selective and rapid transport of partially dehydrated Li+ within subnanochannels is attributed to precisely controlled interlayer spacing and weaker ion-terminal interaction.
