Detailed study of HWP non-idealities and their impact on future measurements of CMB polarization anisotropies from space

S. Giardiello et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of a specific class of instrumental systematics on the reconstruction of the B-mode power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background (CMB). The focus is on the non-ideal properties of the half-wave plate (HWP), which is a polarization modulator used in future CMB experiments. The effects of non-ideal HWP properties, such as transmittance, phase shift, and cross-polarization, are studied using a simulation pipeline adapted to the LiteBIRD mission. The systematic effects on the tensor-to-scalar ratio are quantified, and accuracy requirements for the measurements of HWP properties are derived.

Summary: This study presents component-separated maps of the primary cosmic microwave background/kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) amplitude and the thermal SZ Compton-y parameter. The maps, created using data from the South Pole Telescope (SPT) and the Planck satellite, have higher angular resolution and lower noise at small angular scales compared to previous products. Validation tests show good performance in sky modeling and combination algorithms. These data products have great potential for astrophysical and cosmological analyses.

Detection of spectral variations of Anomalous Microwave Emission with QUIJOTE and C-BASS

R. Cepeda-Arroita et al.

Summary: Through the study of the λ Orionis ring, we found that AME exists in the form of degree-scale excess over 20 sigma around the entirety of the ring near photodissociation regions, with three primary bright regions containing dark clouds. A radial decrease is observed in the AME peak frequency from approximately 35 GHz near the free-free region to approximately 21 GHz in the outer regions of the ring, marking the first detection of AME spectral variations across a single region. A strong correlation between AME peak frequency, emission measure, and dust temperature indicates the dependence of AME peak frequency on the local radiation field.

The Thermal and Gravitational Energy Densities in the Large-scale Structure of the Universe

Yi-Kuan Chiang et al.

Summary: The formation of cosmic structures leads to gravitationally collapsing matter density fluctuations and the shock-heating and thermalization of baryonic matter. The connection between the gravitational potential energy density of collapsed halos (Omega(halo)(W)) and the thermal energy density of baryons (Omega th) is expected. Using different estimates, it has been found that a large portion of Omega(halo)(W) comes from massive halos while Omega th accounts for most of the kinetic energy of baryons in halos at z less than or similar to 0.5. This puts a constraint on the amount of nonthermal pressure in the system.
