Localization and Criticality in Antiblockaded Two-Dimensional Rydberg Atom Arrays

Fangli Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of positional disorder on Rydberg atoms trapped in a 2D square lattice and uncovers three different regimes, which are absent in other systems. The use of quench dynamics is proposed for experimental probing of these regimes.

Hybrid Rydberg quantum gate for quantum network

Yubao Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a quantum gate based on Rydberg atoms for processing different types of qubits and realizing complex quantum network structures. The fidelity degradation caused by various noise channels is analyzed through theoretical analysis, and the feasibility and challenges of the protocol are discussed by considering possible experimental parameter settings.

Epidemic growth and Griffiths effects on an emergent network of excited atoms

T. M. Wintermantel et al.

Summary: This study reveals a striking correspondence between the excitation dynamics of a laser-driven gas of Rydberg atoms and the spreading of diseases, providing a controllable platform for studying non-equilibrium dynamics on complex networks. The growth of excitation number in epidemics is found to be sub-exponential and a quantitative microscopic susceptible-infected-susceptible model is developed based on this observation. Physical insights into non-equilibrium criticality and non-universal power-laws in the dynamics of complex systems are provided.

Photon storage and routing in quantum dots with spin-orbit coupling

Chong Shou et al.

Summary: The research proposes a highly efficient scheme for quantum storage and routing based on quantum dots with Rashba spin-orbit coupling, utilizing electromagnetically induced transparency for single-photon storage, retrieval, and routing, and suppressing propagation loss with a weak microwave field to achieve high efficiency and fidelity in the process. This paves the way for the design of advanced solid-state devices for photonic quantum-information processing and transmission using quantum dots with spin-orbit coupling.

Floquet Hamiltonian engineering of an isolated many-body spin system

Sebastian Geier et al.

Summary: Controlling interactions is crucial in quantum engineering of many-body systems. By applying time-periodic driving, a natural many-body Hamiltonian can be transformed into an effective target Hamiltonian with different dynamics. Demonstration in an experimental setting shows modification of relaxation behavior of total spin by changing symmetry properties of the effective Hamiltonian through spin manipulations.

Controlling quantum many-body dynamics in driven Rydberg atom arrays

D. Bluvstein et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that coherent revivals associated with quantum many-body scars can be stabilized by periodic driving, generating a robust subharmonic response akin to discrete timecrystalline order. This finding provides new ways to control complex dynamics in many-body systems and may have potential applications in quantum information science.

Infidelity Induced by Ground-Rydberg Decoherence of the Control Qubit in a Two-Qubit Rydberg-Blockade Gate

Yangyang Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the coherence of ground-Rydberg transitions in a single atom subjected to various pulse sequences, particularly focusing on the CZ gate sequence. It is found that the process experienced by the control qubit atom under a two-qubit entangling process with the H-CZ controlled-NOT gate scheme is essentially similar to ground-Rydberg Ramsey interference. A theoretical model linking the decoherence time of the control qubit to the CZ pulse sequence is established, shedding light on the origins of decoherence effects and potential ways to improve fidelity of the CZ gate.

Quantum memory of single-photon polarization qubits via double electromagnetically induced transparency

Qi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the quantum memory of photonic polarization qubits via electro-magnetically induced transparency (EIT) using a tripod-shaped four-level atomic system under double EIT conditions. The efficiency and fidelity of the qubit memory storage are calculated, with optimal optical depth achieved by suppressing optical absorption and dispersion through pulse duration and control field amplitude choices. Additionally, the calculation holds implications for understanding slow lights transmission properties and experimental realization of high-quality memory for photonic qubits and qudits.

Two-color optical nonlinearity in an ultracold Rydberg atom gas mixture

Cheng Chen et al.

Summary: The experimental observation of strong two-color optical nonlinearity in an ultracold gas of Rb-85 - Rb-87 atom mixture is reported. The nonlinearity can be tuned by varying the density ratio of different atomic isotopes, demonstrating potential for exploring strongly interacting multicomponent fluids of light. The phenomenon is described by two coupled nonlinear wave equations developed to explain the cross-absorption modulation to the beam propagation dynamics.
