ASAP: assemble species by automatic partitioning

Nicolas Puillandre et al.

Summary: ASAP is a fast and efficient method for constructing species partitions from single locus sequence alignments. It offers a new scoring system without prior biological insight, and can be used through a graphical web interface or downloaded for local usage.

Adding DNA barcoding to stream monitoring protocols - What's the additional value and congruence between morphological and molecular identification approaches?

Simone Behrens-Chapuis et al.

Summary: The study compared the impact of DNA barcoding and morphology-based identification methods on taxa detection and taxonomic resolution of freshwater fauna in the River Sieg, Germany, finding that DNA barcoding was able to achieve species-level assignment in some invertebrates. Despite being more costly and time-consuming, DNA barcoding showed the potential to increase taxonomic resolution and provide a more complete profile of biodiversity.
