Modified Transceiver Antenna for NQR Detection of Explosive Objects in Demining Conditions

Andrii Samila et al.

Summary: This paper presents the conceptual stages of simulating and developing a modified transceiver antenna for a high-power pulsed nuclear quadrupole resonance detector. Through numerical simulation and material analysis, the physical parameters of the antenna system were calculated to be as close to reality as possible. Experimental studies showed that the proposed antenna has a larger working area compared to a similar antenna.

Wire metamaterial filled metallic resonators

Rustam Balafendiev et al.

Summary: This work focuses on the electromagnetic properties of a resonator used to search for axions, a hypothetical candidate for explaining dark matter. By studying a wire medium loaded resonator, the authors found that the resonator's quality factor decreases as the volume increases, eventually being dominated by resistive losses in the wires. The experimental results confirm the theoretical findings, and even metals like copper can achieve higher quality factors than previously assumed.

Local electronic structure of stable monolayers of α-MoO3-x grown on graphite substrate

Dorota A. Kowalczyk et al.

Summary: Van der Waals epitaxy was used to grow 2D molybdenum trioxide monolayer on graphite, and its electronic properties were studied. It was confirmed that MoO3-x can be electrically conductive, with the exposure to air affecting its electronic properties.

Inducing topology in a wire medium based metamaterial [Invited]

Simon Yves et al.

Summary: The study reviews attempts at topological photonics using an experimental platform operating in the microwave frequency range based on a resonant metamaterial consisting of finite-length resonant metallic wires. The wave propagation is accurately described by a polariton with subwavelength propagating modes and a hybridization bandgap, allowing for exploration of topology aspects applied to wave propagation through appropriate design of wire lengths and spatial positioning.
