A Meta-analysis of the Effect of Motivational Interviewing on Depression, Anxiety, and Quality of Life in Stroke Patients

Ni Qiqi et al.

Summary: This study found that motivational interviewing may have beneficial effects on depression and quality of life among stroke patients at less than 12 months of follow-up. However, no significant improvements were observed at 12 months of follow-up, and motivational interviewing was not associated with alleviating anxiety in stroke patients. Further large and well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings.
