Effect of non-isothermal retrogression and re-ageing on through-thickness homogeneity of microstructure and properties of Al-8Zn-2Mg-2Cu alloy thick plate

Wu Cai-hong et al.

Summary: The through-thickness homogeneity and properties of aviation aluminum alloy thick plate can be improved by heating-cooling retrogression and re-ageing treatment. The research findings indicated that the coarsening and secondary precipitation behaviors of precipitates can be controlled under suitable retrogression and cooling conditions, leading to enhanced electrical conductivity and through-thickness homogeneity of the alloy plate.

Influence of thermo-mechanical conditions on the microstructure and mechanical property of spray-formed 7055 aluminum alloy

Yong Shao et al.

Summary: A series of isothermal compression experiments were conducted to investigate the flow behavior of spray-formed 7055 aluminum alloy under different thermo-mechanical conditions. The results showed that the dynamic softening mechanisms, material flow behavior, microstructure development, and texture evolution were influenced by the deformation conditions. Additionally, the relationship between dynamic recrystallization mechanisms and hot deformation conditions, as well as the impact of chemical composition and morphological changes on microstructure, were studied.

Precipitation behavior of spray-formed aluminum alloy 7055 during high temperature aging

Xiaomin Lin et al.

Summary: The precipitation behavior of spray-formed aluminum alloy 7055 during high temperature aging was studied, and the results showed that eta phase was the main precipitate. The most suitable aging treatment was found to be 400 degrees C for 2 minutes, which resulted in the formation of finer eta phases and improved hardness and conductivity.

In situ laser-ultrasonic monitoring of elastic parameters during natural aging in an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy (AA7075) sheet

Georg Watzl et al.

Summary: In this study, an in situ laser ultrasonic method based on plate resonances was used to continuously monitor small changes (<1%) of Young's modulus, shear modulus, and Poisson's ratio during natural aging of an age-hardenable aluminum alloy (AA7075) sheet. The formation of Guinier-Preston zones was found to be qualitatively correlated with an increase in elastic moduli and material strength.

Hot workability and dynamic recrystallization behavior of a spray formed 7055 aluminum alloy

Rui Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, the hot workability of a spray formed 7055 aluminum alloy was investigated using advanced Gleeble thermo-mechanical simulation technology and EBSD technology. It was found that with increasing deformation parameters, the grains become finer and the distribution of crystal orientation becomes more homogeneous. Additionally, both Continuous Dynamic Recrystallization (CDRX) and Discontinuous Dynamic Recrystallization (DDRX) mechanisms coexist during hot deformation.
