Circulating TRB3 and GRP78 levels in type 2 diabetes patients: crosstalk between glucose homeostasis and endoplasmic reticulum stress

M. Nourbakhsh et al.

Summary: The study found that serum concentrations of TRB3, GRP78, AGEs, and TNF-alpha were significantly higher in patients with type 2 diabetes compared to healthy controls. There were positive correlations between TRB3 and FPG, HbA1c, HOMA-IR, and AGE, as well as between GRP78 and HbA1c and AGEs. The findings suggest that TRB3 and GRP78 may play a role in the pathogenesis of T2DM and could be potential therapeutic targets for treatment.

hsa-miR-607, IncRNA TUG1 and hsa_circ_0071106 can be combined as biomarkers in type 2 diabetes mellitus

Manna Su et al.

Summary: The study explores the relationship between circRNA, lncRNA, miRNA and T2DM, and evaluates their diagnostic value for T2DM. It finds that the levels of lncRNA TUG1, hsa-miR-607, and hsa_circ_0071106 in peripheral blood have potential clinical diagnostic value for T2DM.

Long Noncoding RNA MEG3-205/Let-7a/MyD88 Axis Promotes Renal Inflammation and Fibrosis in Diabetic Nephropathy

Qimei Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role and mechanism of lncRNA MEG3-205 in renal inflammation and fibrosis in diabetic nephropathy (DN). The results show that lncRNA MEG3-205 is significantly upregulated in renal tissues of DN patients and in mesangial cells treated with advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Overexpression of lncRNA MEG3-205 promotes the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and synthesis of extracellular matrix proteins. It is also found that lncRNA MEG3-205 can act as a competing endogenous RNA by binding with let-7a to regulate MyD88 expression. Knockdown of lncRNA MEG3-205 alleviates albuminuria and attenuates renal inflammation and fibrosis in DN.

LncRNA TUG1 regulates the development of ischemia-reperfusion mediated acute kidney injury through miR-494-3p/E-cadherin axis

Li Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that lncRNA TUG1 alleviated I/R-induced AKI by targeting miR-494-3p/E-cadherin. Overexpression of TUG1 or transfection with miR-494-3p inhibitor significantly reduced cell apoptosis.

Summary: This study delved into the role of long non-coding RNAs in diabetes mellitus, identifying six lncRNAs that showed dysregulation in DM patients and participated in various metabolism-related pathways. These lncRNAs could potentially serve as biomarkers for diabetes mellitus.

Levels of circulating GRP78 and CHOP in endoplasmic reticulum stress pathways in Chinese type 2 diabetic kidney disease patients

Ning Ma et al.

Summary: The study found that circulating GRP78 and CHOP concentrations were decreased in T2DM patients compared to controls, with more pronounced reduction in patients with severe albuminuria. GRP78 was positively correlated with various biochemical parameters, while CHOP was associated with age, Cr, and other factors.

LncRNA TUG1/miR-29c-3p/SIRT1 axis regulates endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated renal epithelial cells injury in diabetic nephropathy model in vitro

Shaoqiang Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that TUG1 could inhibit apoptosis mediated by ERS by negatively regulating miR-29c-3p, while miR-29c-3p could increase ERS and decrease the level of SIRT1, resulting in injury to HK-2 cells induced by high glucose.

MicroRNA-494 Regulates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Endothelial Cells

Namita Chatterjee et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the functional role of miR-494 in ER stress, showing that its expression is affected by ER stress inducers and hyperglycemia. Pre-treatment with miR-494 can mitigate ER stress induced by ER stress inducers and increase cell viability. It is suggested that ER stress-driven miR-494 may function in a feedback inhibitory loop.
