The Solanum melongena COP1LIKE manipulates fruit ripening and flowering time in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Muhammad Naeem et al.

Summary: The SmCOP1LIKE gene in tomato plays an important role in regulating fruit ripening, reducing flowering time, and modulating ethylene production. Overexpression of SmCOP1LIKE results in decreased chlorophyll and carotenoid content, delayed fruit ripening, and earlier flower buds initiation. Furthermore, SmCOP1LIKE modulates ethylene triple response and sensitivity.

Plastome structure of 8 Calanthe s.l. species (Orchidaceae): comparative genomics, phylogenetic analysis

Consolata Nanjala et al.

Summary: This study investigated the complete plastomes of 6 Calanthe and 2 Phaius species, revealing their structural characteristics. The results showed highly conserved plastomes among the species, with some non-coding regions having more sequence repeats important for DNA barcoding. Phylogenetic analysis revealed a paraphyletic relationship in the Calanthe group and confirmed the position of Phaius delavayi within the genus Calanthe.

Comparative Analyses of Euonymus Chloroplast Genomes: Genetic Structure, Screening for Loci With Suitable Polymorphism, Positive Selection Genes, and Phylogenetic Relationships Within Celastrineae

Yongtan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the chloroplast genomes of Euonymus species were assembled and annotated, and various analyses were conducted to explore gene structure, GC content, sequence alignment, and nucleic acid diversity. The results revealed differences in GC content among regions and identified potential molecular markers for phylogenetic studies within the genus Euonymus. Positive selection signatures were observed in rpoB protein encoding genes, and an evolutionary tree was constructed based on the chloroplast genome data, supporting traditional taxonomic classifications.

Generation of Chloroplast Molecular Markers to Differentiate Sophora toromiro and Its Hybrids as a First Approach to Its Reintroduction in Rapa Nui (Easter Island)

Ignacio Pezoa et al.

Summary: Sophora toromiro, an endemic tree of Rapa Nui with religious and cultural relevance, is now extinct in the wild but still persists in botanical gardens and private collections worldwide. The study highlights the need for accurate genotyping and certification of selected plants in order to efficiently reintroduce toromiro into its native habitat.
