Application of Amorphous Calcium Phosphate Agents in the Prevention and Treatment of Enamel Demineralization

Jiarong Yan et al.

Summary: Enamel demineralization, a common dental problem, is a concern for dental professionals and patients due to its impact on both health and aesthetics. Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) has gained attention as a potential agent for preventing or treating enamel demineralization. This article briefly reviews ACP stabilizers and their mechanisms, as well as the scientific evidence supporting the remineralization ability of these agents. The limitations of current research and future prospects for clinical translation of ACP agents are also discussed.

Enamel-like tissue regeneration by using biomimetic enamel matrix proteins

Zehui Fang et al.

Summary: This study proposed an innovative strategy to regenerate enamel-like tissue using biomimetic enamel matrix proteins on etched enamel surface, producing prismatic structures with similar mechanical properties to natural enamel. Analysis through XRD and FTIR confirmed the regenerated crystal as hydroxyapatite. Molecular dynamics simulation showed that the binding energy between mLRAP and NAA were primarily electrostatic forces and Van der Walls. These results present a promising approach for inducing crystal growth of enamel-like hydroxyapatite for biomimetic reproduction of materials with complex hierarchical microstructures.
