Photocatalytic degradation and anti-cancer activity of biologically synthesized Ag NPs for inhibit the MCF-7 breast cancer cells

Govindan Nadar Rajivgandhi et al.

Summary: The current study aimed to investigate the enhanced anti-cancer and photo catalytic dyes degradation effect of Ag NPs mediated by the marine mangrove plant Rhizophora mucronata. The synthesized Ag NPs showed a surface peak at 415 nm in UV-spectrometer data, and their functional groups and morphological structures were characterized by XRD and SEM. The SEM images exhibited a clear spherical morphology, indicating the original crystalline and monodispersive nature of the silver nanoparticle structure. The results demonstrated that the Ag NPs possessed enhanced biological properties, as evidenced by their dose-dependent anti-cancer activity against MCF-7 lung cancer cells. Fluorescence microscopic images further suggested that the Ag NPs promoted apoptosis in MCF-7 cells. Additionally, the synthesized silver nanoparticles effectively degraded the dye through photo-catalysis.
