Preparation and growth-promoting effect of selenium nanoparticles capped by polysaccharide-protein complexes on tilapia

Lirong Ren et al.

Summary: The study successfully prepared selenium nanoparticles with high dispersion stability using a polysaccharide-protein complex as the capping agent, isolated from abalone viscera. These nanoparticles showed a stable dispersion for 12 months and demonstrated excellent growth-promoting effects on tilapia when used as a dietary supplement. There is potential for the application of these synthesized PSP-SeNPs in life sciences.

Structural characterization and immunomodulatory activity of mycelium polysaccharide from liquid fermentation of Monascus purpureus (Hong Qu)

Nifei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, alkaline extracted endopolysaccharides (MPS) from Monascus purpureus mycelium were successfully separated into four sub-fractions, and their structures were systematically characterized using various analysis methods. MPS-1 and MPS-2 both contained mannose, glucose, and galactose, but with slight differences in their molecular structures. Furthermore, MPS-2 showed significant effects in promoting cytokine secretion and improving mRNA expression levels in a cell model.

Structural characterization and amelioration of sulfated polysaccharides from Ganoderma applanatum residue against CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity

Xinling Song et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the hepatoprotective effects of sulfated Ganoderma applanatum residue polysaccharides (SGRP) on chronic liver injury induced by CCl4, showing reduction in histopathological damages, improvement in liver function, decrease in inflammation, and antioxidant properties. Structural studies reveal SGRP as a heteropolysaccharide with high sulfur content. Our findings suggest SGRP as a potential candidate for anti-fibrosis treatment in pharmaceutical industries or as a food supplement.
