Sustainable development of manganese sulfoselenide nanoparticles anchored graphene oxide nanocomposite for high-performance supercapacitor and lithium-ion battery applications

K. Yamini Yasoda et al.

Summary: Transition metal chalcogenides are considered promising electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their low electronegativity, suitable electrical conductivity, high specific capacitance, and favorable redox regions. However, poor electrical conductivity and volume fluctuations hinder their industrial use. This study proposes a new method to synthesize metal-incorporated graphene oxide (GO) and convert it into metal sulfoselenides, combining the advantages of both GO and metal sulfoselenides for electrochemical energy storage. The fabricated electrode exhibits high specific capacitance and good cyclic stability for both supercapacitor and lithium-ion battery applications.

Recent trends in graphene supercapacitors: from large area to microsupercapacitors

Andres Velasco et al.

Summary: Supercapacitors using graphene as electrodes have seen significant improvements in performance over the past decade, with specific capacitance increasing from 135 to 2585 F g(-1) and cyclability enhancing from 80% after 1000 cycles to nearly 100% after 20,000 cycles. The development of 3D porous graphene electrodes, large area processing techniques, microsupercapacitors, and functionalization with different materials have all contributed to these advancements.
