Indulgent of the physiochemical features of MgCr-LDH nanosheets towards photodegradation process of methylene blue

Susanginee Nayak et al.

Summary: The 90% delaminated MgCr-layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets were prepared via a formamide-assisted co-precipitation and mild hydrothermal route for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under solar light exposure. The as-synthesized MgCr-LDH nanosheets displayed a band gap of approximately 2.63 eV and achieved 90.6% MB photodegradation under specific experimental conditions. The superior catalytic performances were attributed to the suppression of excitonic recombination, effective light harvestation properties, and the contribution of porous structural aspects, surface defect sites, and photoactive Cr3+ cations.

AC conductivity and dielectric parameters studies in multilayer TiO2/ZnO thin films produced via ALD technique

S. S. Fouad et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence of frequency and temperature on the AC conductivity and dielectric parameters of multilayered TiO2/ZnO thin films. The fabricated films, deposited using atomic layer deposition (ALD), show promising electrical properties that are sensitive to frequency and temperature. The dielectric constant and loss are found to be dependent on the frequency and temperature.

The extra-large calixarene-based MOFs-derived hierarchical composites for photocatalysis of dye: Facile syntheses and contribution of carbon species

Congying Rao et al.

Summary: In this study, Cu/C composites were prepared by calcining synthesized metal-organic nanocapsules precursors and their photocatalytic performance was evaluated for methyl violet degradation. The influence of calcination temperature and time on catalytic activity was investigated, and the Cu@C-100 0-4 composites showed the highest photodegradation performance. The possible mechanism for the degradation of MV dye by Cu/C-100 0-4 composite was analyzed using LC-MS methodology.

Vapor-phase grafting of a model aminosilane compound to Al2O3, ZnO, and TiO2 surfaces prepared by atomic layer deposition

Vepa Rozyyev et al.

Summary: ALD metal oxide layers were surface modified with vapor-phase (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) at different temperatures, showing uniform monolayer silane formation through various measurement techniques. Higher surface density of grafted APTES species was observed at lower temperature due to temperature-dependent reactivity of the surface hydroxyls. APTES reacted with Al2O3 and ZnO exclusively through metal siloxy bond formation, while with TiO2 through both siloxy bond formation and ammonium salt formation.

Syntheses, design strategies, and photocatalytic charge dynamics of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs): a catalyzed photo-degradation approach towards organic dyes

Ayushi Singh et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and coordination polymers (CPs) are new varieties of materials with potential applications in gas separation, storage, membranes, and drug delivery. Recent research explores the use of pure MOFs as photocatalysts, with computational studies providing insights into their photocatalytic properties. These materials show promise in degrading organic molecules, particularly dyes, in wastewater discharge from industrial sources.
