Solar energy-assisted reactor for the sustainable biodiesel production from Butea monosperma oil: Optimization, kinetic, thermodynamic and assessment studies

Summary: In this study, a solar energy-assisted reactor was developed for biodiesel production from Butea monosperma oil. The optimized conditions resulted in a high yield of Butea monosperma methyl ester (BMME) and the fuel properties of BMME were evaluated. Kinetic studies and thermodynamic analysis were conducted to understand the reaction mechanism and system characteristics. The sustainability indicators for BMME production were also evaluated using green chemistry metrics.

The study found that sonication-induced sulfonation processes are significantly efficient. NS.Coal and SS.Coal showed activity in the transesterification reaction of corn oil, but SS.Coal achieved higher yield in a shorter reaction time. The determined activation energy for NS.Coal and SS.Coal suggests their potential as effective catalysts at low energy and mild conditions.

Development of a zeolite supported CaO derived from chicken eggshell as active base catalyst for used cooking oil biodiesel production

Evaluation and kinetic study of alkaline ionic liquid for biodiesel production through transesterification of sunflower oil

Influence of desilication route of ZSM-5 zeolite in mesoporous zeolite supported calcium oxide catalyst for biodiesel production

The CaO/Zeo-CTAB catalyst exhibited the best performance, with high biodiesel yield and resistance against leaching of calcium species.
