Electrochemical detection of mercuric(ii) ions in aqueous media using glassy carbon electrode modified with synthesized tribenzamides and silver nanoparticles

Summary: This study successfully synthesized a series of novel tribenzamides with flexible and rigid moieties and tested their ability in detecting mercuric ions. The glassy carbon electrode was modified by combining the synthesized tribenzamides with silver nanoparticles, and square wave anodic stripping voltammetry was conducted for mercuric ion detection. The designed sensor demonstrated sensitivity, selectivity, reproducibility, and anti-interference ability. This research contributes to the detection of low concentrations of mercuric ions.

Summary: A new strategy for fabricating porous polyurea microspheres (PPM) with controllable morphology and the immobilization of palladium (Pd) on PPM have been developed, showing high catalytic activity for the reduction of toxic Cr6+ to benign Cr3+ in aqueous system. The PPM exhibited good stability and ease of recovery for reuse in subsequent catalytic reduction processes.
