Ethanol Steam Reforming by Ni Catalysts for H2 Production: Evaluation of Gd Effect in CeO2 Support

Gabriella R. Ferreira et al.

Summary: Ni-based catalysts supported on CeO2 doped with Gd were prepared and investigated for ethanol steam reforming reaction. The addition of Gd promoted the formation of solid solution between Gd and Ce, enhanced the metal-support interactions, and induced the formation of GdNiO ternary phase. The catalytic performance was dependent on Gd content and reaction temperature, with the 5Ni_5GdCeO(2) catalyst showing the best performance at 600°C.

Pore structure of ordered mesoporous Pt-CeO2 probed by CO via VT-DRIFTS

Lingyiqian Luo et al.

Summary: CeO2-supported Pt catalysts with different pore structures were synthesized using different mesoporous silica templates. The effects of pore structure on the surface and adsorption properties of the catalysts were investigated. The results showed that the catalyst synthesized from SBA-15 template had the largest number of active metal sites due to its larger pore volume and pore size.

Highly active Ni/CeO2 for the steam reforming of acetic acid using CTAB as surfactant template

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Ni/Ce catalysts were synthesized with the assistance of CTAB, and their performance was evaluated. The results showed that CTAB improved the pore structure and reducibility of the catalysts, leading to higher activity and lower methane yield. Among them, Ni/Ce-C6 catalyst exhibited the best performance with high surface area and hydrogen yield, along with strong Ni-ceria interaction. Additionally, the CTAB assistance inhibited the formation of amorphous carbon.

Combined effect of bio-oil composition and temperature on the stability of Ni spinel derived catalyst for hydrogen production by steam reforming

Naiara Garcia-Gomez et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of temperature and bio-oil composition on the stability of a catalyst, and finds that the catalyst deactivates rapidly when the external surface is blocked by turbostratic carbon. Removing phenolic compounds from the bio-oil slows down the formation of turbostratic carbon and improves catalyst stability.
