Catalyzed H2O2 decomposition over iron oxides and oxyhydroxides: Insights from oxygen production and organic degradation

Hamed Vafaei Molamahmood et al.

Summary: This study investigates the decomposition of H2O2 over six different iron minerals and finds hematite and goethite to be the most promising minerals for environmental cleanup due to their high ROS production. Magnetite and maghemite are highly active for both H2O2 decomposition and O-2 production at neutral and basic pHs. Ferrihydrite and feroxyhyte, on the other hand, are problematic minerals for CHP as they have high O-2 production and negligible ROS generation at all pHs.

Study on Photocatalytic Degradation of Acid Red 73 by Fe3O4@TiO2 Exposed (001) Facets

Li Sun et al.

Summary: Water pollution can be treated through the photocatalytic reaction of TiO2 or TiO2 compounds. In this study, Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@TiO2 composite photocatalysts were prepared using a solvothermal method, and it was found that Fe3O4@TiO2 can reduce the band gap and maintain a certain proportion of high-energy facet exposure. The photocatalytic degradation experiment demonstrated that Fe3O4@TiO2 can significantly improve the degradation efficiency of Acid Red 73 and achieve higher degradation rate after self-cleaning treatment.

Caihua Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a Fe-g-C3N4/Bi2WO6 Z-scheme heterojunction was elaborately designed for the degradation of tetracycline (TC). The performance of H2O2 decomposition in the Z-scheme heterojunction was improved by the doping of iron, enhancing the transportability of photogenerated electrons and facilitating the spread of radicals. The study also found that O-1(2) and center dot O-2- were the main active species participating in the degradation process, according to efficacy analyses and experimental results.
