Increasing the topological diversity of light with modulated Poincare beams

Summary: A wide class of singular inhomogeneously polarized beams with nonuniform rotation rate of polarization azimuth are introduced in this study. They are obtained by adding extra phase modulation with m-fold rotational symmetry to the helical wavefronts of Poincare beams. The modulated Poincare beams have been theoretically studied and experimentally generated using tailored space-varying-axis plates based on liquid crystals.
