Fourth-order compact scheme based on quasi-variable mesh for three-dimensional mildly nonlinear stationary convection-diffusion equations

Navnit Jha et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new family of compact schemes using quasi-variable mesh to enhance the accuracy of approximate solutions to mildly nonlinear convection dominated diffusion equations. By adjusting mesh points to achieve uniformly distributed local truncation errors, the scheme can be easily tuned based on the fluctuating solution behavior of subdomains. The block-tridiagonal construction of the Jacobian matrix acquired with the new scheme facilitates implementation with reasonable computing time and analysis of error estimates and convergence properties using matrix and graph theoretic approaches.

A New Stable, Explicit, Third-Order Method for Diffusion-Type Problems

Endre Kovacs et al.

Summary: Introduces a new explicit numerical method for the diffusion or heat equation, which discretizes the space variables and analytically solves the time derivatives using a combination of constant-neighbor and linear-neighbor approximations, providing unconditional stability and third-order convergence.

New Analytical Results and Comparison of 14 Numerical Schemes for the Diffusion Equation with Space-Dependent Diffusion Coefficient

Mahmoud Saleh et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the one-dimensional transient diffusion equation with a space-dependent diffusion coefficient. The research is important for understanding diffusion mechanisms and presents new analytical solutions as well as efficient numerical methods. The results may be of interest to the community developing multi-physics engineering software.

A Special Multigrid Strategy on Non-Uniform Grids for Solving 3D Convection-Diffusion Problems with Boundary/Interior Layers

Tianlong Ma et al.

Summary: This paper extends previous research on solving convection-diffusion problems in two dimensions to three dimensions using the partial semi-coarsening multigrid method and high-order compact difference scheme. The main advantage of this method is that the multigrid method on non-uniform grids can be performed with different numbers of grids in different coordinate axes, making it more efficient than using the same number of grids in different coordinate axes.
