Impact of product design on remanufacturing under environmental legislation

Qixiang Wang et al.

Summary: This study analyzes how OEMs enhance recyclability and reusability through product design to reduce carbon emissions, in response to take-back and carbon tax legislation. The research finds that high product design levels do not necessarily result in more remanufacturing, and that a reuse target can be an effective alternative to the dominant collection target in take-back legislation.

Promote or inhibit? Research on the transition of consumer potential purchase intention

Baixue Chen et al.

Summary: There has been a significant shift from offline to online in consumer behavior, resulting in enterprises investing heavily in digital advertisements to capture consumers' attention online. This study explores the impact of different online channels on consumers' potential purchase intention and behavior. The findings show that search advertising significantly increases consumers' propensity to purchase, while SMS advertising easily tires consumers and lowers their purchase intention. Firm-initiated advertising is more likely to decrease consumers' purchase intention.

Consequence analysis for integrating remanufactured products for social donation (RSD) under mandatory take-back regulation

Wenping Liu et al.

Summary: To achieve better environmental performance, governments are setting mandatory take-back legislation that requires manufacturers to recycle and remanufacture waste products as much as possible. Some enterprises introduce charitable donations into remanufactured products to fulfill environmental and social responsibility. The impacts of remanufactured products on social donation (RSD) are examined in this paper under the government's mandatory environmental responsibility goal. It is found that the profit and product quantity increase after engaging in RSD, consumer surplus also increases, but the environmental impact becomes worse.

Strategic management of product recovery and its environmental impact

Zhe Wang et al.

Summary: This paper explores the strategic management of product recovery through a model of a monopoly manufacturer, characterizing four different product recovery strategies portfolios based on profitable trade-offs. It analyzes how different revenue and cost parameters influence optimal production and recovery decisions, as well as economic profits. The environmental impact of implementing product recovery management is evaluated using a product life-cycle assessment approach, determining the conditions under which it can lead to a better environmental impact.
