Simultaneous doping of sulfur and chloride ions into ZnO nanorods for improved photocatalytic properties towards degradation of methylene blue

Zaheer Ahmed Ujjan et al.

Summary: In this study, sulfide and chloride ions were successfully doped into ZnO through hydrothermal method. The doped ZnO nanostructures showed no significant change in morphology, retaining the wurtzite crystal structure with a red shift in XRD results. The successful doping of sulfide and chloride ions was confirmed by elemental analysis. Importantly, the optical band gap of ZnO was reduced upon doping, leading to enhanced photocatalytic properties. The doped ZnO photocatalyst achieved a high photo-degradation efficiency of methylene blue.

Environmental disparities in urban Mexico: Evidence from toxic water pollution

Lopamudra Chakraborti et al.

Summary: Disparities in toxic water pollution from industrial facilities in urban Mexico are found to be more prevalent in marginalized and increasingly marginalized neighborhoods. However, there is no evidence for a relationship between toxic water pollution and indigenous race. The study suggests that environmental disparities may be driven by collective action, community pressure, and Coasian bargaining, rather than political economic or amenity-based sorting mechanisms.

UV Blocking and Oxygen Barrier Coatings Based on Polyvinyl Alcohol and Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles for Packaging Applications

Iftikhar Ahmed Channa et al.

Summary: Photodegradation and oxidation are major causes of food deterioration, but the use of nanofillers and polyvinyl alcohol films can delay degradation and increase the shelf life. The addition of ZnO nanoparticles to the films effectively blocks UV rays and enhances the water contact angle and oxygen barrier properties. Optimized films were applied to packaging and showed improved freshness and oxidation resistance compared to unpackaged apples.

Effect of Cu on the passivity of Ti-xCu (x=0, 3 and 5 wt% ) alloy in phosphate-buffered saline solution within the framework of PDM-II

Muhammad Ali Siddiqui et al.

Summary: The study reveals the impact of copper content on the passivity of Ti-xCu alloys in a PBS electrolyte, showing that Cu additions decrease charge transfer resistance and capacitances while increasing donor density and reducing electrochemical resistance. It is also observed that over a long implant period, a small amount of Ti-3Cu alloy is predicted to be lost due to steady-state corrosion, with the corrosion rate decreasing as Cu content increases from 3 wt% to 5 wt% in the Ti-xCu alloys.
