Summary: Each year, the American Cancer Society compiles data on cancer occurrence and outcomes in the United States. The latest data shows that breast and prostate cancer progress has stagnated, while lung cancer has shown improvements in survival rates. Lung cancer incidence for advanced disease has declined while localized-stage rates have increased, resulting in higher survival rates. Mortality patterns align with incidence trends, with lung cancer deaths declining rapidly, breast cancer deaths slowing, and prostate cancer deaths stabilizing.

Mussel-inspired self-adhesive hydrogels by conducting free radical polymerization in both aqueous phase and micelle phase and their applications in flexible sensors

Shuangli Li et al.

Summary: A new approach to construct self-adhesive hydrogels by conducting free radical polymerization in both aqueous and micelle phases is developed, resulting in mechanically strong and adhesive hydrogels for wearable sensors. The introduced ions during preparation process endow the resulting hydrogels ionic conductivity, while resistive strain sensor of the hydrogel achieves a high gauge factor, response time, and sensing stability. Organohydrogels constructed in glycerol-water mixed solvent exhibit outstanding anti-freezing property and moisture retention ability, and their adhesiveness is well maintained in subzero conditions, demonstrating potential in monitoring diverse human motions with capacitive pressure sensors.
