The Hepatic Microenvironment Uniquely Protects Leukemia Cells through Induction of Growth and Survival Pathways Mediated by LIPG

Haobin Ye et al.

Summary: The liver provides a unique microenvironment for leukemia cells to acquire metabolic properties that confer increased resistance to chemotherapy. Adaptations in the liver induce metabolic changes that protect leukemia cells from conventional therapies, suggesting that overcoming liver-specific metabolic changes may improve treatment outcomes for leukemia patients.

Tea polyphenol modified, photothermal responsive and ROS generative black phosphorus quantum dots as nanoplatforms for promoting MRSA infected wounds healing in diabetic rats

Shibo Xu et al.

Summary: The study proposed a strategy of using EGCG modified black phosphorus quantum dots as therapeutic nanoplatforms to promote healing of MRSA infected deep burn wounds in diabetic patients. Results showed that the nanoplatform had strong photocatalytic ability, efficient bactericidal rate against MRSA, and could promote cell proliferation.

(-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate induces apoptosis and differentiation in leukaemia by targeting reactive oxygen species and PIN1

Fernanda Isabel Della Via et al.

Summary: (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a major active polyphenol in green tea, has shown in vivo effects in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), including reversing leucocytosis and thrombocytopenia, prolonging survival, reducing leukemia immature cells, and increasing mature myeloid cells in the bone marrow, possibly through apoptosis induction and cell differentiation. Additionally, EGCG reduced expression of oncoproteins, increased neutrophil differentiation markers, and inhibited ROS production and oxidative stress. These findings support further evaluation of EGCG as a potential treatment option for AML patients.

Bone-Targeting Polymer Vesicles for Effective Therapy of Osteoporosis

Xue Zhou et al.

Summary: This study presents a biomimicking polymer vesicle for bone-targeted delivery of beta-estradiol, which showed enhanced therapeutic effect in reversing bone loss in osteoporosis rat models. The vesicle, self-assembled from a specific diblock copolymer, demonstrated a high bone affinity and synergistic effects with E-2. This work offers new insights into the treatment of osteoporosis.
