Combined spectroscopic and computational approaches for the recognition of bioactive flavonoid 6-hydroxyflavone by human serum albumin: Effects of non-enzymatic glycation in the binding

Sharat Sarmah et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of non-enzymatic glycation on the molecular recognition of 6-hydroxyflavone by human serum albumin (HSA). The results show that glycation enhances the binding affinity of HSA for 6-hydroxyflavone and increases the stability of the complex. Hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions contribute to the binding.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between a pyridine derivative called HDN and serum albumins. The results reveal a moderate binding affinity of HDN with albumins and minimal impact on the protein's secondary structure. This suggests the potential application of HDN as an effective drug.

Microalgae-derived nanoporous biochar for ammonia removal in sustainable wastewater treatment

Xixia Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aims to explore and understand the use of microalgae as a biological source for effective ammonia absorbent. Nanoporous microalgae biochar (NP-MBC) was synthesized using formaldehyde-stabilized hydrothermal and KOH-activated high-temperature pyrolysis, and the mechanism for NP-MBC ammonia removal was investigated. The results showed that NP-MBC prepared at 700 degrees C exhibited the best ammonia adsorption performance.
