The Introduction of Defects in Ti3C2Tx and Ti3C2Tx-Assisted Reduction of Graphene Oxide for Highly Selective Detection of ppb-Level NO2

Zijie Yang et al.

Summary: The main gas-sensing mechanism of oxidized MXene (Ti3C2Tx) is modulation of the Schottky barrier. The introduction of Ti atom defects through oxidation greatly improves the gas-sensing properties. Utilizing Ti3C2Tx as a reductant, Ti3C2Tx/TiO2/rGO crumpled spheres are successfully synthesized to enhance gas-sensing performance.

Carbon-based nanomaterials for the detection of volatile organic compounds: A review

Feifei Yin et al.

Summary: Carbon-based nanomaterials have attracted much attention for their unique physical structures and excellent electric properties, making them promising high-performance sensing materials for the detection of VOCs gases. The tunability of the chemical character and surface properties of carbon-based nanomaterials allows for the construction of selective sensors targeting VOCs gases, suitable for applications in environmental gas monitoring and non-invasive disease diagnosis. These materials also offer mechanical flexibility for new designs of gas sensing platforms, putting them at the forefront of sensing materials for wearable applications.

A graphene oxide Cookbook: Exploring chemical and colloidal properties as a function of synthesis parameters

Siyuan An et al.

Summary: This study investigates the synthesis of graphene oxide (GO) under various conditions and explores how reaction temperature, time, oxidant ratio, and sonication time affect the chemical and colloidal properties of the product. It was found that increasing reaction temperature led to higher oxidation state and yield of the sonication step for GO. Increasing reaction time and oxidant ratio also resulted in higher oxidation state and had a pronounced effect on the final yield.
