An Experimental and Theoretical Investigation on the Oxidation of CO over Pd/C Derived from the Spent Pd Catalyst

Ansari Palliyarayil et al.

Summary: Novel materials and methodologies are being developed for the removal of toxic and poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas to address serious health and environmental issues. Low-cost and earth-abundant catalysts for CO oxidation are urgently needed due to the expensive existing materials. Experimental findings reveal that the reaction proceeds through Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism, with the oxidation state and moisture playing a critical role in Pd catalytic properties on the oxidation of CO.
