Promoting Ex-Solution from Metal-Organic-Framework-Mediated Oxide Scaffolds for Highly Active and Robust Catalysts

Seyeon Park et al.

Summary: This study redefines the design of host oxide structure using a metal-organic framework (MOF) as an oxide precursor, resulting in the preparation of highly active catalysts through facilitated ex-solution. The MOF can absorb a large quantity of ions and form nano-sized particles with excellent performance by promoting ex-solution at low temperatures. The ex-solution behaviors of Pt, Pd, Rh, and their bimetallic combinations are investigated, and the MOF-driven ZnO particles functionalized with PdPt catalysts show benchmark-level activity and sensing characteristics for acetone at 500 degrees C.
