The Hawking-Page-like phase transition from FRW spacetime to McVittie black hole

Haximjan Abdusattar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the thermodynamics of the McVittie space-time, particularly focusing on the Hawking-Page-like phase transition. The formulation of thermodynamic laws and equations specific to the McVittie black hole provides insights into the possibility of phase transitions under certain conditions.

Constraining spatial curvature with large-scale structure

Julien Bel et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the clustering of matter on large scales considering spatial curvature and develops a consistent approach to calculate the 2-point correlation function in redshift space. The use of the 'Clustering Ratio' as a probe of clustering, in combination with low-redshift background probes, provides powerful cosmological constraints independent of CMB information. The study finds that the flat concordance model with curvature is consistent with the observed data, and the use of clustering ratio measurements can provide valuable low-redshift clustering data that is compatible with the CMB.

The P-V phase transition of the FRW universe

Shi-Bei Kong et al.

Summary: In this paper, we derive the equations of state for the FRW universe in Einstein gravity and a modified gravity. The equation of state from Einstein gravity shows no P-V phase transition, while the equation of state from the modified gravity does, with the critical exponents being the same as those in mean field theory.

Joule-Thomson expansion of Born-Infeld AdS black holes

Shihao Bi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the Joule-Thomson expansion of Born-Infeld AdS black holes in the extended phase space, discussing detail the Joule-Thomson coefficient, inversion curves, and isenthalpic curves using a 4-dimensional black hole. Critical points and curves in the T - P plane are analyzed with different parameters beta and charge Q. It is found that the missing negative slope is still conserved in Born-Infeld black holes, and the results are extended to higher dimensions beyond 4. Comparisons are made on critical temperatures and inversion temperature minima, showing a ratio of asymptotically 1/2 as Q increases or beta approaches infinity, consistent with previous findings in higher dimensions.

Hawking radiation and P - v criticality of charged dynamical (Vaidya) black hole in anti-de Sitter space

Ran Li et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyze the Hawking radiation and P - v criticality of charged dynamical (Vaidya) black hole in AdS space. By examining the near horizon properties of scalar field, we determine the Hawking temperature of the dynamical charged AdS black hole. Our results show that the critical pressure, volume, and temperature relationship is modified by the dynamical nature of the black hole, while the critical exponents remain unaffected. Additionally, the P - v criticality of the charged dynamical AdS black hole will disappear if the rate of change of the black hole horizon exceeds the critical value.

Joule-Thomson expansion of regular Bardeen AdS black hole surrounded by static anisotropic matter field

K. Rajani et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the anisotropy of Bardeen black hole in a static anisotropic matter field and analyzes its Joule-Thomson expansion. By studying the pressure anisotropy, equation of state, and pressure variation with radial coordinate, as well as treating the cosmological constant as a thermodynamic pressure and deriving the equation of state connecting Hawking temperature and black hole parameters, the paper explores the effects of anisotropic matter field on JT expansion.

Divergence behavior of thermodynamic curvature scalar at critical point in the extended phase space of generic black holes

Ya-Peng Hu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the P-V phase transition and critical behavior of asymptotic AdS black holes in the extended phase space, finding that four critical exponents around the critical point match those in mean field theory, and introducing a new critical exponent nu related to divergent correlation length. By studying the divergent behavior of R-N at critical point, it is discovered that this behavior is a universal property in generic black holes, with implications for the microscopic properties of black holes.

Joule-Thomson expansion for hairy black holes

Jing-Tong Xing et al.

Summary: This study investigates the Joule-Thomson expansion of hairy black hole in AdS5 spacetime, revealing that scalar hair suppresses the ratio between the minimum inversion temperature and the pressure-volume critical temperature while electric charge enhances it. This finding suggests that scalar hair activates the effect of electric charge, which differs from the behavior of normal charged black holes.

Joule-Thomson expansion of lower-dimensional black holes

Jing Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, the Joule-Thomson expansion is extended to the low-dimensional regime by considering the rotating BTZ metric in (2 + 1)-dimensional space-time. The properties of Joule-Thomson coefficient, inversion curve, and isenthalpic curve were investigated, along with the divergence and zero points. The minimum inversion temperature was found to be zero, leading to the black hole becoming an extremal black hole, with no critical behavior exhibited in BTZ black holes.

Curvature tension: Evidence for a closed universe

Will Handley

Summary: The tension in the curvature parameter measured between Planck 2018, cosmic microwave background (CMB) lensing, and baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) data is 2.5-3 sigma using the suspiciousness statistic. Conclusions about the spatial curvature of the Universe from these data should be viewed with suspicion. Without CMB lensing or BAO, Planck 2018 has a moderate preference for closed universes.
