Aspects of 5d Seiberg-Witten theories on S1

Qiang Jia et al.

Summary: We study the infrared physics of 5d N = 1 Yang-Mills theories compactified on S-1 and discuss the global structures of Coulombic moduli spaces, wall-crossings, and elliptic genera of magnetic BPS strings. We also provide a general field theory proof of the odd shift of electric charge on Sp(k)(pi) instanton solitons.

The U-plane of rank-one 4d N = 2 KK theories

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: The study examines the U-plane and Seiberg-Witten (SW) curve of the simple non-trivial 5d superconformal field theories with E-n flavour symmetry. It classifies all possible Coulomb branch configurations for the E-n theories and their 4d descendants, and explores the global form of the flavour symmetry group. Special points in parameter space are investigated, such as those where flavour symmetry enhances and where specific theories appear.

The u-plane integral, mock modularity and enumerative geometry

Johannes Aspman et al.

Summary: This article revisits the low-energy effective U(1) action of topologically twisted N = 2 SYM theory on a generic oriented smooth four-manifold with nontrivial fundamental group. By introducing a specific set of Q-exact operators, the integrand of the path integral of the low-energy theory is expressed as an anti-holomorphic derivative, allowing for explicit evaluation of correlation functions using the theory of mock modular forms and indefinite theta functions. The results are compared with existing literature and concrete numerical predictions are made.

Seiberg-Witten geometry, modular rational elliptic surfaces and BPS quivers

Horia Magureanu

Summary: We study the Coulomb branches of four-dimensional supersymmetric quantum field theories with N = 2 supersymmetry. In particular, we focus on the relation between their Seiberg-Witten geometries and rational elliptic surfaces. We classify the modular surfaces using the subgroups of the modular group PSL(2, Z) and derive closed-form expressions for the modular functions. We also provide a prescription for determining the BPS quivers using the fundamental domains of the monodromy groups and study how changes of these domains can be interpreted as quiver mutations. This prescription can be generalized to theories with 'undeformable' singularities.

Holonomy saddles and 5d BPS quivers

Qiang Jia et al.

Summary: In this study, the Seberg-Witten geometry of 5d N = 1 pure Yang-Mills theories compactified on a circle is explored, revealing multiple 4d limits of interacting Seiberg-Witten theories from a single 5d theory. The compactification leads to N copies of locally indistinguishable 4d pure SU(N) Seiberg-Witten theories in the infrared, glued together in a manner dictated by the Chern-Simons level.

Mock modularity and surface defects in topological N=2 super Yang-Mills theory

Georgios Korpas

Summary: This study focuses on the effective low energy dynamics of the topologically twisted super Yang-Mills theory on compact four-manifolds with surface defects. It investigates the singularity of the gauge field along specific directions and proposes the use of mock modular forms to express the integrand of the path integral. The evaluation of correlation functions is facilitated by applying Stokes' theorem.

Four flavors, triality, and bimodular forms

Johannes Aspman et al.

Summary: This article investigates the duality group and order parameters in N = 2 supersymmetric SU(2) gauge theory. The authors find that subgroups of the duality group act separately on different parts of the coupling, while a larger group acts simultaneously on both couplings. For certain choices of masses, the duality group can be identified as congruence subgroups of SL(2, Z), and the order parameters are instances of bimodular forms.

Coulomb and Higgs branches from canonical singularities. Part 0

Cyril Closset et al.

Summary: This paper mainly discusses the five-dimensional and four-dimensional superconformal field theories arising from canonical threefold singularities in M-theory and Type IIB string theory. It studies their Coulomb and Higgs branches, and proposes a relation between the resulting moduli spaces through compactification, mirror symmetry, and gauging. By applying this framework, it determines the Higgs branches of some 5d SCFTs and their magnetic quivers. Finally, it also computes the higher-form symmetries of the 4d and 5d SCFTs.

Bootstrapping BPS spectra of 5d/6d field theories

Hee-Cheol Kim et al.

Summary: The proposed method offers a systematic approach to computing the BPS spectrum of 5d/6d supersymmetric quantum field theories in Coulomb phases, utilizing blowup equations and the Omega background. It has been successfully applied to calculate the BPS spectra of various rank-1 and rank-2 5d Kaluza-Klein (KK) theories, with discussions on exotic cases such as new 5d SCFTs and the 5d SU(3)(8) gauge theory. These results serve as important checks for dualities among 5d theories and provide independent evidence for the existence of certain exotic theories.

Gauge theories on compact toric manifolds

Giulio Bonelli et al.

Summary: This study discusses the computation of the N = 2 supersymmetric partition function of a gauge theory on a four-dimensional compact toric manifold via equivariant localization. The results show that the partition function expression has specific features that simplify the evaluation of residues through an abstruse duality. Ultimately, it is found that U(1) self-dual connections exhibit an anomalous dependence on the gauge coupling, satisfying an N = 2 analog of the N = 4 holomorphic anomaly equations.
