Groundwater pollution assessment in a coastal aquifer in Cape Coast, Ghana

George Lutterodt et al.

Summary: The study assessed the water quality of hand-dug wells in the shallow aquifer of three communities near the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. It found that the wells were at risk and polluted with total coliforms, high chloride concentration, and elevated electrical conductivity. Bacteria can persist in aquifers for years, indicating long-term pollution risks.
