On-Chip Characterization of High-Loss Liquids Between 750 and 1100 GHz

Juan Cabello-Sanchez et al.

Summary: Terahertz spectroscopy is a promising tool for analyzing the dynamics of biomolecules, but water molecules cause signal losses, hindering sensitive measurements. This study presents a high-sensitive approach for on-chip terahertz spectroscopy of high-loss liquids, capable of resolving the permittivity of water.

Terahertz Band-Pass Filters for Wideband Superconducting On-Chip Filter-Bank Spectrometers

Alejandro Pascual Laguna et al.

Summary: A superconducting microstrip half-wavelength resonator is proposed as a suitable band-pass filter for broadband moderate spectral resolution spectroscopy for terahertz astronomy. The filter geometry has a free spectral range of an octave of bandwidth and high coupling efficiency. A spectrally sparse prototype filter-bank has been developed in the band 300-400 GHz, with an equivalent circuit model to anticipate systematic errors. The fabricated chip has been characterized in terms of frequency response, showing an average peak coupling efficiency of 27% with an average spectral resolution of 940.

Advances in terahertz time-domain spectroscopy of pharmaceutical solids: A review

Prince Bawuah et al.

Summary: This review highlights the recent advances in the use of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) for characterising pharmaceutical materials, including small organic molecular crystals, amorphous drug products, and biopharmaceutical solid-state formulations. THz-TDS is also discussed for its non-destructive porosity measurement and microstructure characterisation of tablet matrices, making it a versatile analytical tool for the pharmaceutical industry.

350-GHz Bandpass Filters Using Superconducting Coplanar Waveguide

Jiang-Qiao Ding et al.

Summary: Two coplanar waveguide bandpass filters working at 350 GHz are designed based on quarter-wavelength stepped impedance resonators, using superconducting niobium film patterning technology. The study indicates that these filters can be applied in future terahertz astronomical spectrometer.
