A frequency-domain analysis of inexact gradient methods

Oran Gannot

Summary: The study focuses on the robustness properties of iterative gradient-based methods for strongly convex functions and functions with sector-bounded gradients under a relative error model. Convergence rates are proven based on frequency-domain criteria for the stability of nonlinear systems, and applications are given to inexact versions of gradient descent and the Triple Momentum Method. Improved analytic bounds for the convergence rate of Nesterov's accelerated method on strongly convex functions are derived, highlighting the usefulness of frequency-domain methods.

Dynamic energy flow analysis of the heat-electricity integrated energy systems with a novel decomposition-iteration algorithm

Shuai Yao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the models and methods for dynamic energy flow analysis of two strongly coupled networks in the integrated energy systems - the power grid and the heating network. A refined difference scheme is applied to discretize the partial differential equations describing the long-lasting temperature dynamics in the heating network. The high-dimensional dicretized model is then solved by a novel decomposition-iteration algorithm. Moreover, a revision stage is introduced to correct the systematical error and obtain more accurate energy flow results.
