Improve Inter-day Hand Gesture Recognition Via Convolutional Neural Network-based Feature Fusion

Yinfeng Fang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the inter-day hand motion classification accuracy using convolutional neural network (CNN)-based data feature fusion. The results showed that adding automatically learned CNNFeats to the handcrafted TDAR feature set improved accuracy by >3% for LDA and SVM classifiers. Additionally, incorporating TDAR as additional input to the CNN improved accuracy by >1% compared to the basic CNN.

Attribute-Driven Granular Model for EMG-Based Pinch and Fingertip Force Grand Recognition

Yinfeng Fang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an attribute-driven granular model (AGrM) under a machine-learning scheme to solve the challenge of precise control in fine multifunctional prosthetic hand manipulation. The model utilizes an additional captured attribute as a latent variable for supervised granulation, achieving improved pinch-type classification and fingertip force prediction accuracy. The AGrM model demonstrated comparable pinch recognition accuracy to other clustering-based granulation methods, with lower computational cost and higher force prediction accuracy.
