Triple attention learning for classification of 14 thoracic diseases using chest radiography

Hongyu Wang et al.

Summary: A new CAD model named A3Net is proposed for the diagnosis of thoracic diseases, utilizing three attention modules for improved performance. The model achieved the highest per-class AUC in classifying 13 out of 14 thoracic diseases and the highest average per-class AUC of 0.826 over 14 thoracic diseases when compared to state-of-the-art deep learning models.

COVID-19 classification of X-ray images using deep neural networks

Daphna Keidar et al.

Summary: During the COVID-19 outbreak, chest X-ray imaging has been important in diagnosing and monitoring patients. A deep learning model was proposed for COVID-19 detection from CXRs, along with a tool for retrieving similar patients. The model achieved high accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity on a test dataset.

MANet: A two-stage deep learning method for classification of COVID-19 from Chest X-ray images

Yujia Xu et al.

Summary: The study aims to distinguish COVID-19 positive cases from the other four classes using CXR images by proposing a two-stage classification method MANet. The experimental results demonstrate that classification models with MA have higher accuracy, stable training process, interpretability, and generalization ability. Among the evaluated models, ResNet50 with MA achieves the highest average test accuracy and provides clinicians with reliable diagnosis assistance.

Multi-Label Learning With Visual-Semantic Embedded Knowledge Graph for Diagnosis of Radiology Imaging

Daibing Hou et al.

Summary: The paper introduces two novel improvements in automatic diagnosis for radiology imaging: pre-training disease label embeddings on total radiology reports and fusing semantic features with X-ray features in a transformer encoder for graph initialization, as well as mining extra medical terms from radiology reports and adding them as auxiliary nodes to expand the graph's representation ability without altering the output space size. Experiments on two public chest-X-ray datasets demonstrate the exceptional performance compared to existing models and the benefits of the proposed enhancements.
