Cellular oxidative stress in programmed cell death: focusing on chloroplastic 1O2 and mitochondrial cytochrome-c release

Angel J. Matilla

Summary: Plants have to deal with singlet oxygen O-1(2) produced in chloroplasts, which may trigger chloroplast-to-nucleus retrograde signaling and nuclear reprogramming or cell death. The EX1 and EX2 proteins play important roles in responding to O-1(2)-dependent signals. Mitochondrial damage and translocation of Cytc may be a major cause of programmed cell death triggering.

An Improved Technique for Isolation and Characterization of Single-Spore Isolates of Plasmodiophora brassicae

Mingcan Lv et al.

Summary: This study optimized a single-spore isolation system for P. brassicae by improving operational steps, resulting in increased infection success rate and acquisition of four pathotypes of single-spore isolates. Subsequently, this system was utilized to isolate and characterize pathotypes of single-spore isolates collected from five regions in China, with four to nine pathotypes isolated from each region.
