A LysR Transcriptional Regulator Manipulates Macrophage Autophagy Flux During Brucella Infection

Lu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the function of the LysR regulator gene BSS2_II0858 in Brucella. The results showed that this gene had no role in apoptosis but significantly affected autophagy flux. These findings provide new insights into understanding the mechanisms of Brucella survival in macrophages.

Caspase-8 is involved in pyroptosis, necroptosis and the maturation and release of IL-1β in Aspergillus fumigatus keratitis

Limei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of caspase-8 in mediating the transition between different death modes in fungal keratitis. The results showed that caspase-8 is involved in the early immune defense response of A. fumigatus keratitis, recruiting inflammatory cells and clearing the fungus. It promotes the caspase-1/GSDMD signaling pathway for pyroptosis, inhibits RIPK3/MLKL signaling pathway-mediated necroptosis, and activates the NLRP3 inflammasomes for IL-1 beta maturation and release.

PANoptosis: A Unique Innate Immune Inflammatory Cell Death Modality

Nagakannan Pandian et al.

Summary: Innate immunity is the initial response to pathogens and cellular insults, with pattern recognition receptors sensing specific molecular patterns and inducing an innate immune response. Recent research has discovered a unique form of inflammatory cell death, PANoptosis, which is regulated by assembled complexes called PANoptosomes. Understanding innate immune cell death and PANoptosis is crucial for developing effective treatment strategies.
