PFT-? inhibits gallid alpha herpesvirus 1 replication by repressing host nucleotide metabolism and ATP synthesis

Li Xu et al.

Summary: This study discovered that the small molecule PFT-alpha has antiviral activity against avian infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILTV) by suppressing viral transcription and genome replication. The study further revealed that PFT-alpha inhibits ILTV replication by targeting host nucleotide metabolism and ATP synthesis.

Characterization of chicken p53 transcriptional function via parallel genome- wide chromatin occupancy and gene expression analysis

Zhijie Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, the chp53 transcriptional regulatory network was comprehensively characterized through analysis of chromatin occupancy and gene expression, providing insights into the underlying mechanisms of chp53's antiviral functions in chickens. The findings also contribute to a better understanding of p53 transcriptional regulatory mechanisms.

Reticulon 3-mediated Chk2/p53 activation suppresses hepatocellular carcinogenesis and is blocked by hepatitis B virus

Shushu Song et al.

Summary: Dysfunction of ER proteins is closely related to HCC development. RTN3 is expressed in normal hepatocytes but downregulated in HCC, predicting poor outcomes in patients with certain gene mutations or infections. RTN3 functions as a suppressor of HCC by activating the Chk2/p53 pathway, but its effects are abrogated in HBV-positive cells.

IMMUNOLOGY, HEALTH AND DISEASE Knockout of p53 leads to a significant increase in ALV-J replication

Hui Zhang et al.

Summary: The study successfully constructed a p53 knockout DF-1 cell line using the CRISPR-Cas9 system and found that the p53 gene can effectively inhibit ALV-J replication by regulating important cellular processes. Proteins related to the p53 gene involved in cell cycle activity may serve as key targets for the prevention and treatment of ALV-J.

Coronavirus Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus Nucleocapsid Protein Interacts with p53 To Induce Cell Cycle Arrest in S-Phase and Promotes Viral Replication

Mingjun Su et al.

Summary: The study revealed that PEDV N protein interacts with p53 to activate the p53-DREAM pathway, inducing S-phase arrest to promote viral replication. Hyperoside, a small molecular compound, can antagonize N protein-induced S-phase arrest and inhibit viral replication by interfering with N protein-p53 interaction. These findings shed new light on PEDV-host interaction and offer a novel antiviral strategy against PEDV.
