Novel conjugated small molecule-based nanoparticles for NIR-II photothermal antibacterial therapy

Summary: In this study, single organic small molecule-based nanoparticles (CNPs) with strong responses in the NIR-II bio-window were prepared and applied as an efficient photothermal antibacterial agent for the first time. The CNPs showed outstanding bacteria inhibition efficiency of almost 100% against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) under NIR-II laser irradiation, with a high photothermal conversion efficiency (PTCE) of approximately 49% for 8 minutes.
