Realization and measurement of Airy transform of Gaussian vortex beams

Lu Zhou et al.

Summary: The study investigates the Airy transform of Gaussian vortex beams and derives a universal analytical expression for the output beams' characteristics. The effects of Airy control parameters and the topological charge on the output beams are studied theoretically and experimentally, showing a reasonable agreement between experimental and theoretical results in illustrating the properties of Airy transform of Gaussian vortex beams.

Quality factor of partially coherent Airy beams in a turbulent atmosphere

Wei Wen et al.

Summary: The study uses the extended Huygens-Fresnel integral formula and Wigner distribution to investigate the quality factor of a partially coherent Airy beam in a turbulent atmosphere. It is found that increasing the inner scale or decreasing the structure constant of refractive index fluctuations tends to reduce the quality factor. Additionally, increasing the scale factor and wavelength or decreasing the coherent length can also decrease the quality factor of the beam.

Self-splitting and propagation factors of a superimposed Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model beam in turbulent atmosphere

Zheng-Lan Zhou et al.

Summary: A novel type of superimposed Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model (SHGCSM) laser beam demonstrates self-splitting features in free space, with the primary single beam spot gradually developing into four or two spots in the far-field. The SHGCSM beam splits faster than the HGCSM beam and has lower intensity at the center of the beam. The independence of the four or two spots makes them suitable for attacking multiple targets. Compared with the HGCSM beam, the SHGCSM beam has a lower propagation M-2-factor in non-Kolmogorov turbulence and is less affected by turbulence, making it beneficial for atmospheric optical communications research.
