Multifunctional Magnetic Porous Microspheres for Highly Efficient and Recyclable Water Disinfection and Dye Removal

Huifang Ma et al.

Summary: Developing efficient and robust water purification technologies is highly significant due to the increasing population and serious water pollution. This study proposes a simple method to synthesize a multifunctional water treatment agent with excellent disinfection performance and high adsorption capacity. The agent can be easily collected and regenerated using a magnet. After multiple cycles, it still maintains good reusability.

γ-Cyclodextrin as a capping agent for gold nanoparticles

Maria Slavgorodska et al.

Summary: The adsorption behavior and favorable binding geometry of gamma-cyclodextrin (gamma-CD) onto the surface of a quasi-spherical AuNP were studied by molecular dynamics simulation. At lower adsorbate content, gamma-CD molecules prefer binding onto the gold surface by its wider toroid rim while at higher content, they change in favor of binding by their toroid side. Binding interactions between AuNP and gamma-CD occur through multiple non-covalent interactions, with hydroxyl groups and aliphatic carbon moieties playing an essential role.

Extraction of Bionanomaterials from the Aqueous Bulk by Using Surface Active and Water-Soluble Magnetic Nanoparticles

Rajpreet Kaur et al.

Summary: Surface active and water-soluble magnetic nanoparticles were successfully used to extract bionanomaterials from the aqueous bulk. The results showed that surface active magnetic NPs can extract Au NPs conjugated with hydrophobic proteins effectively at the aqueous-air interface, while water-soluble magnetic NPs can extract various types of Au NPs.
